That's what you should turn your minds to . Plus the moronic and disgusting idea that hunting has a single reason to justify mindless wholesale animal murder.
We? Millions of people in the UK own guns.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

That is mostly ceremonial. It's about tradition and culture at this point, more than a political system. Canada is the same way, and Australia is similar although they might abolish it relatively soon. Unfortunately, of course. It ties us together - it's a good reason to have strong alliances.

    Mostly people .
But other than obvious exceptions - like farmers taking exception to marauding tigers , why would any balanced person want to kill anything on four legs or that flies in the sky . Some character defect perhaps ?

I suspect that tinged with some hidden sadness and longing it is people like you who are the obsessed .
It is part of our daily lives . Our monarchy is barely noticed . It stands as part of our national fabric , an institution that has evolved to present times , where it is a reminder of our great history and also a symbol of wide unity and friendship --- something the US cannot understand because it has never enjoyed such bounty and tribute .

Exactly. My ideology is very against the Monarchy but I can't argue with the way it effects our politics, (which is to say, it doesn't, really). Limited power, but great traditions, and a way to keep strong alliances with our former "British Commonwealth" friends. It's preferable to having a President. And if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it. What a nightmare it would be to switch to having a President instead of a Governor-General (represents the Queen) who only has ceremonial powers for the most part.
