I disagree. As I mentioned, Reagan did a lot of things and supported a lot of positions that would now be called liberal. Particularly when it came to the environment, guns and government spending.

Disagree all you want. Presidents try to be all things to all people and will always have at least 50 percent of the country against him on some position. No one agrees 100% with anyone else. You must look at his over all performance and I don't see how you can call him socialist by that criteria. .

Reagan’s endorsement of a balanced budget is funny in light of the deficits his administration ran up. Carter was more of a budget hawk than Reagan.

Still, he was a great President.

Most Republican Governments have run up deficits. Maybe it's all that lowering of taxes and increased military or related spending that's to blame.

Greater Democrat spending was generally associated with inherited economic reversals, followed by the creation of surpluses which the Reps spent like drunken sailors on shore leave. I'm not seeing any Republican fiscal restraint in this government. Your chart stops short of the manic Trump deficit spending.

He was head and shoulders over this punk in office now. I voted for him both as Governor and President back when I was in my native state, California. He wasn't anti-American.
