Trump refuses to listen to the majority of the country. He refuses to keep his campaign promises to get America out of these endless wars. The Democratic nominee in 2020 will harp on this, just like Trump harped on it when he ran against Hillary. Trump's strong non-interventionist campaign rhetoric helped him get elected in key swing States. But Trump has forfeited the non-interventionist mantle to his progressive opponents. If Bernie is the nominee, he's going to hammer Trump as a pro-war president who lied the country. And Bernie will be right. Unfortunately, Trump's base refuses to admit that anything has gone seriously awry with Trump's presidency. To call it a "presidency" is a misnomer at this point, since it is clear that Bolton and Pompeo exercise just as much power as Trump does. They are ALWAYS obstructing Trump's foreign policy instincts. But Trump's base doesn't even care. They think it's fine that Bush-era, Iraq war retreads like Bolton are occupying positions of power inside the government even though Trump railed against the Iraq war as a "big fat mistake".(The American Conservative) Poll: Most Americans Oppose U.S. Support for the War on Yemen
