Attorney General Barr Attempts to End Asylum Abuse Madness With New Ruling .....

All Righty then.....AG Barr has ended catch and release.

In hopes of cutting down on fraud and abuse, Attorney General Bill Barr has implemented a new ruling requiring that individuals seeking asylum in the United States be held in detention facilities until their court date. Essentially, Barr is ending catch-and-release of those claiming asylum.

Currently, the asylum backlog sits at nearly 500,000 cases with an additional 348,000 individuals waiting in the immigration court system.

Why detain them. Tell them to wait anywhere they wish- outside of the US.

I guess it's better than releasing them into the country, but yeah, I say scooch them back into Mexico. I don't care where they came from. This has to stop.

TBH the solution is really simple. If America really wants to discriminate between bona fide refugees and economic migrants, set up very publicized refugee camps in the desert where there will be no particular overriding effort to admit said refugees to the country and watch how many decide not to make the pilgrimage and how many currently waiting will choose to leave. The actual refugees will still come if the preservation of their own lives and those of their children is the only factor but the economic migrants will try another country. No one but the truly desperate would choose a refugee camp with no freedom of movement or any future possible acceptance over the liberty to take their chances on finding a better place to earn a living somewhere else. There is no reason why temporary legislation can't be passed to deal with the current crisis.

Do you think such legislation could pass Congress?

Btw, Barrs ruling doesn't include Migrant families with children. Mainly it is for all the single male Migrants.

Of course the ACLU is already crying and whining about keeping them detained. I wonder if the ACLU can be charged for putting the physical security of the US at greater risk than what is the norm. If possible.....then American citizens should file non stop charges against those working in the ACLU for deliberately endangering American lives.

It depends on how it's presented. The political climates in 2nd and 3rd world countries are not static. They change over time. Taking in refugees is a charitable deed but should not jump the immigration queue and refugee camps needn't be horrific places. They need to be safe and clean and provide education for children. While people should be able to apply for permanent residency, the criteria should be no different than for any other immigrant, however they could also be assisted in applying for permanent residency in other countries. In the meantime, they are safe and it doesn't preclude some industries operating from within the camps, generating income for the residents and for the business. If safety is the primary concern, people will happily take a refugee camp. If jumping the immigration queue is the real motive, they will look elsewhere.

/Edit, if the EU had been more pragmatic in their charity and set up refugee camps, the current issues with middle eastern and north African migrants would never have happened.
