That and his prescription diet have certainly helped and the Medicam seems to manage his pain. They're pretty expensive though.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do when it's his time. I'm not going to handle it well.
When the time comes - and hopefully that will not be any time soon - to fulfill the last act of a loving and responsible pet "owner", please remember this.

Let your voice be the last thing he hears, and your face be the last thing he sees.

I can't really say why, but having done it so many times over the years with beloved felines whom I've had to let go, I know that it helps to remember that you did that.

It's going to kill me. I'll be a blubbering mess.

This is the fourth dog I've been lucky enough to have. The last dog was really tough to say goodbye to. He was with me for 16 years and I was with him at the end.

I had a cat in law school. I ended up giving him to my mom because he was part wild and my apartment was too small for him. At her place he spent days in the swamp (across the street) and came home at night. He lived a long life and finally died. I didn't feel sad: he had a great life for a cat.

When angel our 16 yr cat had to have her suffering stopped, my wife said she was coming with me and she was going to stay with her to the end. She just could not do it, she fell apart and had to go out to the car, so I stayed with her. On the ride home every pet I ever had to go through that with ran through my mind, Ive never forgotten any of them. They are So much a part of your life.

Max is different I worked very little in his lifetime, other pets I was around far far less than max, ive been with max almost every day of his life and weve spent much time together, hes another son.

He didnt want to play with his favorite toy yesterday that he and I played with every day for his lifetime.

The problem is that we humans out live our pets and we can get understandably so attached

That ran through my mind also. Did he pass the Bar?
