    Getting older

Interesting. A mixed bag for sure. On the one hand you have gained a certain wisdom. On the other what good does it do now? On one hand you have a warmer more loving type personality . On the other hand you become less tolerant. A lot more I could add but I wont right now. Even though i've become more aware that time is limited I have also became quite a procrastinater

That description fits you but everyone doesnt age the same.

At the gym yesterday I was on the treadmill and a guy I know from the gym was on one next to me. He started out walking at 3mph then went up to 4mph. Then he pushed it up and started jogging then at the end he was running at 7mph. Hes 95 yrs old he will be 96 in nov. When he walks there isnt a hint of old man, hes as flexable as a young man. Hes a small italian guy, short and built small but hes a bull. He speaks intelligently and keeps up on everything around him politics included. His one undeniable fault is that hes a diehard democrat, but hes what I call a Union Democrat from many years ago. We agreed not to ever discuss politics and we dont hes a great guy

Interesting. Thats a bit encouraging. Im in my late 50's and a lot of it may be arriving at certain realizations. Where did the years go and what did they even mean?

At late 50's you are just a little older than my favorite socks. Just wait, you'll know old when it gets to ya...
Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I digress....

Time does not define me. I'm happy I'm the age I am. Embrace it.

Getting older - unless you are either genetically blessed or have been exercising since you were twelve - means that you no longer take feeling good for granted. If I had woken up in the morning and felt the way I normally feel now when I was in my twenties, I'd have gone to the doctor immediately. You look at a fence you could have hopped over with no problem thirty or forty years ago and think, "I'd break my freaking back if I tried to do that now". My mind is sharper, for any number of reasons and in any number of ways, than it was back then, but I get tired quickly and like nothing better than a nice ninety minute nap in the afternoon. As my quote, below, suggests, I've become less certain about some things - less convinced that I am truly qualified to judge others in some areas of life. I find myself caring far more about my legacy, such as it is, and how my family and friends will remember me than I do about material comforts and amusements.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry

I don't have the stamina I once had but that's about it for age.

Getting older isn't effecting me much at all physically. I participate in the same outdoor sports activities as I did when I was a teenager. In some cases I'm better at them now.
