I care not who owns them . The news they publish has far more factual information than any western MSM......most people are quite capable of brushing over any editorial innuendo's that present a Russian view and just take the facts on board.I would regard your link to the NYTs as typical anti-Russian paranoid propaganda with nothing factual to back it up.

A large component of the Belt&Road initiative is sea freight ..Europe does not need American gas . The Russian supply is just far cheaper and easier....it's no-brainer...plus many countries do not trust Donald Trump's outdated motives , which are a bit too regressive and based more on geopolitics rather than commonsense and good trade practices.

The Silk Road included many sea routes as well. The same ports and sea routes that made sense before continue to make sense today.

It may be their dominate supply until winter when Russia turns their gas off. Then the US can safely add 30% to our prices.

The Belt and Road initiative does not add to sea routes. Sea routes are always there. The overall plan does include these existing sea routes.

i would be very surprised if the roads do not lead to the same port cities the Silk Road used.
