Cletus and I disagree on this point. Our disagreement does not make Cletus a fake conservative. Nor does it make me one.

The three of us are generally on the same team. This usurpation of rights appropriately exercised by the States and the people, has a long, sordid history. It will take time to convince the honorable men and women on our side to reverse course.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.

I am not arguing that point.
There are two different issues here, maybe three.
1. Regardless of whether the states legalize Marijuana use, federal law currently prohibits it and prohibits the purchase and possession of firearms by Marijuana users. As long as that law is in effect, the Supremacy Clause gives it primacy over whatever state laws may be passed that conflict with it.
2. Recreational Marijuana use causes a dulling of the reflexes and negatively affects judgment and cognitive abilities. I do not want someone under the influence around me with a firearm or to have a firearm in their possession around anyone else. I wouldn't want a drunk or a meth head to be in possession of a firearm for the same reasons.
3. Whether the Feds should be able to prohibit the use and possession of Marijuana is a topic for debate, but it is not really the topic currently under discussion. I am inclined to believe they should not and constitutionally probably do not possess that authority. That said, my feelings about its use and particularly about its users being in possession of firearms would remain unchanged even if the Feds legalized it. Something can be legal and still not be right.

I am around firearms all the time. I am wearing a Glock 32 on my belt as I type this. Tomorrow and Sunday, I will be teaching a defensive pistol class. Wednesday, I will be on the range again to qualify some shooters for the NM Department of Public Safety. The following weekend, I will be working with precision rifle shooters. I am on the forum right now because I am waiting for UPS to deliver a 6.5 Creedmoor for one of my students. Firearms and being around armed people are integral to my business and my lifestyle.
The last thing I want around me is someone who is impaired because he was stupid enough to ingest, inhale, inject or otherwise consume some drug that will affect his judgment, his decision making ability, and his reflexes and motor control. I don't care whether the $#@! is legal or not or if that person thinks its effect on him is insignificant.

This one does, that is one of the (many) reasons I opted not to get a medical card when I was undergoing chemo treatments. And I'm in Vermont with the top 5 loosest gun laws in the country.
@Cletus I never handle a firearm under the influence of, well, anything...caffeine being the exception.
