Dog and food threads always make this place better. Thanks Dr. Who.

Be careful of the dogs you “rescue”.

According to a statement put out by her family, Kallestad and her friends were riding mopeds when they found the puppy. The group of friends brought it to the resort in which they were staying and bathed, cared for and played with it.
All of them sustained minor bites and scratches, which they sterilised and washed soon after. The scrapes had been so small that nobody gave them a second thought.

    Snip

Doctors in Norway did not connect Kallestad's symptoms to rabies, and so, she spent several days in and out of Førde hospital, where she worked. She had been admitted for a week before she died. The rabies diagnosis came three days earlier.

These folks got their own dog back. He was lost. You hardly even find wildlife with rabies in America.

So take in every mutt you find and hope you’re vaccination is up to date. There are hardly ever school shootings too. So nothing to worry about.

Actually, if an animal has had one round of rabies vaccinations it is very unlikely to contract rabies. Regular rabies vaccinations are a scam. They may actually do more harm than good. So, in America, where virtually all dogs get at least one round of rabies shots, the chances of encountering a rabid stray dog are so minute as to make the risk thousands of orders less than being hit by a car or struck by lightning. Feral dogs are a different story, but still, rabies is very rare in America.

Ok. You could win the lottery too. Gotta pay to play I suppose. Be my guest.
