I think Bernie actually believes his convictions as does Rand Paul for example. Neither the parties, the media nor Washington has a whole knows how to deal with sincerity. It confuses and threatens the main stream donkephant. I certainly don't agree with everything bernie says but I know this. If we had legalized drugs and focused on addiction resources back in the 70's the country as a whole would be far better off today. Prohibition/war on drugs has lead to far more deaths than the drugs themselves ever would have, made the "land of the used to be free" the most incarcerated society on earth and cost us tons of money in the process, all while helping to grow government and eroding state's rights. I don't get why so many cons support programs that limit individual liberty, grow government, cost so much money , don't work at all and trash state's rights. True fiscal conservatives and champions of individual freedom and the Constitution , like Rand Paul, get it. But most cons don't. Most libs don't either. Even if you believed that laws would limit drug access at one time , it should be painfully clear by now that this attempt has failed with dire consequences.

A 100% tax on income over one million dollars, which is the equivalent of five million today. That's a rational position to take. I encourage him to run with that.

Honestly, I'm hoping no one they nominate will work on a national level. All of them either support reparations or increased gun control (or both). There was a time when the Democrats had some reasonable positions, but I guess that time has passed.
