There isn't a single reason to honor him. He should have been hanged.

    Cool story, Bro.

I call bull$#@!. You've got the meme down cold, I'll give you that, but your logic is flawed. Al-Qaeda is a current foreign enemy that occasionally recruits an American citizen, but for the most part, an extremist religious faction that's set its sight on the western world. The Nazis were also a foreign enemy.

The Confederates were the ancestors of MILLIONS of current Americans, meaning those Americans have an emotional link. Destroying their heritage would be like destroying destroying the heritage of Native Americans, who also once fought against the US.

Use your brain and think for yourself.

You can allow them to honor their ancestors without turning it into something ugly.

You can call it whatever you wish, because I don’t care if you continue to spew the same ideological claptrap your ilk spews whenever you feel the need to try and change history.

Some facts...the Confederacy is based on white supremacy. Period. I don’t give a flying $#@! if your great gran-pappy Cooter told you wonderful stories of unicorn farts because that is just the revisionist history of what the confederacy was about.

$#@! their feelings, when they start caring about how ugly their ancestors treated my ancestors, then I might care about someone’s feelings.

And that would have guaranteed an insurgency.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

And once again you render yourself irrelevant to the conversation. You are a tender plant.

    You? Democrat.
The nature of parties in the 19th Century has no bearing on today. Furthermore, we are not talking about parties here, we are talking about a rather obscene attitude toward retaining slavery because the South was engaged in an active slave breeding program. The slaves were as much a merchantable good as the crops that they were tending. That was untenable in America and those who fought to retain it, even if it wasn't their only cause, were all too willing to continue regarding people as livestock whether they owned slaves themselves or not, because it was part of the GDP of the South. The truth is that the South was dominated by a certain type of elitist landowner that preferred to maintain something closer to a 17th century world where the rich were very rich and the poor were very poor and illiterate and the scarce mercantile middle class pandered to the wealthy. That economic model would have nonetheless been destroyed by the industrial revolution, but there is no reason to honor or revere a society that was at least as dysfunctional as the one that provoked the original pilgrimage to America.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

"The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems.”
