71% of young people are ineligible for the military — and most careers, too

    This is pathetic.

The numbers are staggering: Seventy-one percent of young people are ineligible to join the military, according to 2017 Pentagon data. The reasons: obesity, no high school diploma or a criminal record.

The problem isn't just a military one, though: It's an issue for businesses as well because the vast majority of that age group isn't eligible for many jobs either, said retired Rear Admiral Thomas Wilson.

That's why Wilson recently raised the issue at a gathering of business and community leaders in York County, Pennsylvania. The 29 percent of 17- to 24-year-olds who are qualified become prime targets for all recruiting: military, college and jobs.

Wilson calls it “a war for the qualified.” Steve Doster, Pennsylvania State director of Military Readiness for Council for a Strong America, agrees it's a problem.

Toss them in the ocean. If they learn to swim they will get some exercise. If not, is it really a loss?
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.

They have been saying this since the Vietnam War and probably before. Other than not taking criminals into the ranks of the military this has been an issue for quite a while. In as much as our military is becoming more efficient in man power usage the 29% remaining should be enough.

Perhaps, one possible way to solve this is to draft the illegals and if they serve their tour of duty its an automatic bestowing of citizenship.

Well, if it's a high school education they lack, then we should start firing teachers.

Put them on the front lines, shoot them if they try to come back.

If the student is fat, turn off their welfare.

    Saves money, too.

    The reality is this, anyway...

    ...it's tricky...

If 71% are not eligible for the military, then 29% are.

When has the nation ever needed 29% of it's young males in uniform?

Seems to me there are more than enough bodies available for our military needs.

All the Congress has to do is pay them more and more of them will consider the military as a career.

    Ooof.

Yeah. Just exactly what we need. An Army of illegal alien mercenaries standing up to protect us because our own people don't want to be bothered.

You think maybe it would be an equally good idea to let sex offenders teach co-ed gym classes in elementary schools?

Nothing can go wrong there, either.

We did it with Filipinos after WW2. When I was in the Navy almost every Navy ship had a contingent of Filipino cooks, stewards and supply personel. They couldn't serve in line positions (they can now) but if they served a specified amount of time they became automatic citizens.

Amazing. Like I was never in the Navy.
What remember about those damn Philipino cooks is their insistence we eat their Philipino swill.

And thst we have done it before, on an incredibly minor scale and limiting their access to incredibly minor positions, from a culture and people who were grateful and friendly to the US, is not anywhere near the same as allowing massive numbers of enemy aliens of inimical intent to provide the bulk of our national security efforts.
