I'm not absolutely certain, but I strongly suspect that most people are far less offended by having the occasional joke made at their expense than they are at having their essential rights as citizens denied. Yes, most of us are guilty of making negative, joking references to gay men, transgender individuals, etc., but at least liberals have the decency to (1) feel contrition for having done so, and (2) refrain from trying to translate whatever negative thoughts we might, consciously or unconsciously, have about those groups into restrictive laws and policies. Your kind gives a lot of lip service to rugged individualism and the freedom to be different, but only when the individual in question is exactly like you.
