I don't know. For one thing, it is impossible to know one's impact from posting on discussion boards. At any given moment on any given day, it isn't much. That's for sure.
I belong to one or two gun forums. My opinion in observing them is that gun owners usually -- and needlessly (in my "regressive" opinion) -- become armchair lawyers to some extent or another, and so "win membership" into support of gun control laws that have become absolutely ridiculous.I assume you are talking about the fact that I am an FFL. I became an FFL in order to facilitate the purchase of the appropriate firearms for my shooting students. I got tired of hearing about people going into gun shops and getting the hard sell from some salesman who tries to sell them a 1300 Dollar handgun when one that costs less than half would suit their particular needs. I don't carry guns in stock. I have no desire to carry guns in stock. Over time, I expanded my business outside of just dealing with my students to include hunters, etcetera, who wanted to avoid the hard sell of a brick and mortar gun store. It turned out to be a successful business model and has worked out well. My primary business is a private security and investigations company. The firearms instruction and transfers came later when it became obvious that a lot of "defensive firearms instructors" don't do their students justice because they lack the background and training themselves to do it right. I don't teach basic marksmanship. There are plenty of people out there who are good at that.
I don't see how you came to believe that I am in favor of increased gun laws in any way.
Mind you, I come from a time when you learned gun safety in a program that lasted only a few weeks (can't remember) just so you could get a hunting license LOL, and back then, guns were where you found (and generally ignored) them, being everywhere. It absolutely was just a whole lot safer era, as I suppose was also all of US history, albeit there have always been plenty of "nutjobs" running around as they would be judged today for purely political reasons. I never knew that mental health was ever an issue in the area of guns. I default to what I know in this area from my youth because it is the truth and just a whole lot better than the bs we have today. Democrats and their minions are sending us to hell, I'm afraid. Looking back, that seems to be just a fact.
I'm not trying to denigrate you, by any means. I admire your achievement in this area.
I'm sure someone probably already corrected you, Cliff.
I recommend arguing from a point of knowledge in the future.
