Public housing for illegal immigrants is transparently unfair

We are lied to every minute of everyday by democrats and the liberal press about illegal immigration, its costs, the number of crimes and just how much they get FREE from us the taxpayers and how it leaves american citizens without.

Take the 32,000 and quadruple it and that would be closer to the truth

Housing shortages are plunging New York City and Los Angeles into crisis. Affordable rental units are scarce, families are doubling up, shelters are jam-packed and tens of thousands are sleeping sprawled on the streets of these two cities.

The wait-list for public housing is more than four years long in LA and would be even longer if officials hadn’t closed it to new applicants. Here in New York, the wait is a staggering 10 years.

Nationwide, illegal immigrants take up some 32,000 public apartments. It’s a powerful reason why the Trump administration is giving them 18 months to get out of taxpayer-subsidized public housing.

“There is an affordable-housing crisis in this country, and we need to make certain our scarce public *resources help those who are *legally entitled to it,” explains Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson.

Mayor Bill de Blasio is slamming the proposal, saying, “This is what cruelty looks like.” Hizzoner couldn’t be more wrong. Playing political games with people’s lives is what’s cruel.

Only one out of every four Americans who qualifies for public housing is able to get it, Carson says. “Fairness requires that we devote ourselves to legal residents who have been waiting, some for many years.”

But the Democrats would rather pander to the pro-immigrant vote than look out for their own constituents. Democrats representing New York in Congress signed a letter opposing HUD’s action to free up housing units for legal residents. Rep. Nydia Velazquez calls the policy “sickeningly cruel.” These lawmakers are double-crossing taxpayers and law-abiding families in their own districts who are struggling to make it.

Yes, this is the same Sec. Carson that didn't know how many applicants are on the waiting list for Section 8, nor didn't understand what a REO property was (thought it was a cookie). Two years on the job and I know more about HUD than he does. So, why is a world renowned neurosurgeon the best choice for the Sec. of HUD, vs a position like....maybe Surgeon General?

Carson was not a good choice, IMHO. I think he means well. I don't think that it is helpful to denigrate the man but he wasn't a good choice.

When good choices are not made in crucial positions, people can die. See Brown and FEMA during Bush administration. Being critical of his knowledge for the position he holds is not denigrating him, why do you think otherwise?

What you want the topic to be about and talking about Sec. Carson are not mutually exclusive events, Common. As the head of HUD, any criticism directed towards him in regards to the current housing situation is fair game, especially in light of those that just want to focus on one aspect of HUD policy.

I will say that Sec. Carson knows as much about the department he oversees, as Trump knows about running the country.....which has been proven to be not a whole hell of a lot.
