Oh phooey....that's only if vegetarians chow down on heavy carbs and nothing else. At the end of the article, they offer two links to very healthy vegetarian foods.

Here's another link that claims vegetarians are smarter.

There are lots of reasons that people become vegetarians or even vegans, and I very much doubt that politics has a lot to do with it, for most folks.

Yes, for some it's about not eating even moderately intelligent creatures, but you certainly don't have to be a "liberal" to have qualms about factory farming and such. For others, it's more for whatever health benefits such a diet conveys. While no vegetarian myself, I find myself eating less meat these days, particularly red meat, because - as happens when some people get older - some of my tastes have changed; things that used to taste good no longer do.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

There is a direct correlation between mental health and intelligence but liberals never seem to own their mental health issues. By extension they deny their own intelligence. Neat.

I love that scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, where the bride-to-be's aunt, when told that her niece's fiancé doesn't eat meat, says, "Oh, okay. I make lamb".

They should supplement with bivalves. Pretty guilt free.
