    Real Salsa.... it's hot!

I have posted this recipe before. If this is too hot for you, you can leave out whatever peppers you want to. I like mine hot.

3 large tomatoes, or 5 or 6 roma tomatoes.

    1 or 2 habanero's
    1 jalapeño
    Optional 1 serrano pepper??
    10 pequin's
6 cayenne peppers dried or less

4 to 5 cloves of garlic or less if you don't like garlic much 3 in the least (a good measure 1 clove per tomato.)
1/2 to 1 tsp of pink Himalayan salt, or sea salt (beware of micro plastics)

You can use less hot peppers or more depending on how hot you want your salsa. If you want it mild just use 1/2 of a jalapeno and like 2 dried cayennes.

Wash your tomatoes, remove core, put in bowl cover and put in the microwave until they are well cooked and there is lots of juice in the bowl. It could take 10 minutes or more. You can also bbq the tomatoes for a richer darker flavor, you can also put the peppers on the bbq as well it will give a unique flavor.

In the blender put all peppers and salt and garlic
Once tomatoes are done cooking add them in juice and all.
Blend for a good amount of time, 1 or 2 minutes

Voila salsa is made. It will make any meal into something special. If you make it super hot you will only need to add a small amount. Pour in a jar or bowl covered, and once cooled can be stored in the refrigerator.

Dear Heloise: I've been given a recipe I'd like to try but I don't have a single one of the 7 ingredients. Just garlic. What should I do? -- Perplexed in Pawtucket.

Dear Perp: Fake it. She does.

It does not cost much for the ingredients just a few dollars. :) It is really really good. This is the real deal authentic stuff.

I'd personally cut back on the peppers, maybe half of all of them, that sounds like a recipe for acid reflux.

No onions? I'd add chopped raw onions to it afterward, put some stink in your breath.

And cilantro maybe, and touch of raw sugar for balance. JMO

I don't add them to the salsa but yes you can. I used to. If you are going to add chopped veg to the finished salsa, add fine diced onion, and green onion, and cilantro. I don't add it to mine because I always keep a batch of chopped vegetables. I sprinkle them on every meal. So it is the same thing. Also the salsa lasts longer without the vegetables in them.

I always chop 1 sweet onion, 1 yellow onion, 1 red onion, green onions, and cilantro. I keep them in a container and that and salsa goes on every meal.

I would recommend trying it without the sugar so you can experience real Mexico salsa. Add the sugar after tasting. Just for the experience. But there are no rules in recipes. You just make it taste like you like it. That is the only rule. It must taste good to you.

For fun, here is a pic of how I chop the vegetables and put them all in one container, except for the cilantro. The cilantro is in it's own container because it goes bad alot faster.

I like hot salsa but I'd cut the peppers by half too. That's a bit much. I'd also add onions. Basically, I agree with CO.

I would make it as suggested but add the onions. And if it was too hot, just add more tomatoes to taste.

    Looks really good.

I hate chopping veggies, with a passion.

I recently bought a kitchenaid chopper.

Organizing chopped veggies that go into a recipe on a plate is the sign of a serial killer btw.
