Post Why Do Women Bully Each Other at Work?

I am treading very cautiously into this subject. Why do women bully each other at work? I have seen it. My partner Greg (law - not lifestyle) and I can have a knock down drag out fight and then go and have lunch and never ever talk about it again. The secretaries and women lawyers in our firm have been fighting over petty crap for years / decades. While the article suggests: "Research suggests that conditions in the workplace might be to blame." I am not so sure. I have seen it and heard it discussed at every firm -- I have discussed it with women lawyers and they say the same thing I've said above. This incessant in-fighting can destroy an office.

    Why?

My first thoughts are it might have something to do with the level of professionalism. At work, as I've always understood, you act professionally, and just don't get into personal squabbles, you have to work with people again the next day. I thought ok this might be a difference between lawyer being more professional than secretaries. But then I see female lawyers also have these personal issues develop. I'll have to give it more thought based on what I've seen.

I had just as many problems male to male as female to female, I dont think there was more problems between the women.

I will just say this, when ever there are males and females in close proximity comingling there is "ALWAYS" issues and problems. Its oil and water, cats and dogs syndrome.

I have a strong feeling it's genetic, like men have a biological tendency to be alpha male, as so to ensure the better selection of healthy women to breed with.

Women in turn I think have a biological urge to push other women competing for good seed out.

    That's my hunch, it's biological.

My first thought is that the issue is not unique to women. More accurate question may be why do people bully each other at work. (and most every place else for that matter.)

Main reason i'm guessing is low self esteem/insecurity and the need/desire to feel some level of superiority.

Second reason (ironically at the other end of the spectrum) would be arrogance. Some people are just naturally pompous and dickheads.

Women can be extremely jealous of each other. Especially when age and looks come into play. A woman in her late teens-mid 20s who is attractive will get a lot of $#@! from the early 30 and up crowd I've noticed.
