Post 'American Soil' Is Increasingly Foreign Owned

'American Soil' Is Increasingly Foreign Owned -- Interesting article. I was not aware that some states restricted foreign ownership of property within its borders.

From the article: American soil. - Those are two words that are commonly used to stir up patriotic feelings. They are also words that can't be taken for granted, because today nearly 30 million acres of U.S. farmland are held by foreign investors. That number has doubled in the past two decades, which is raising alarm bells in farming communities. When the stock market tanked during the past recession, foreign investors began buying up big swaths of U.S. farmland. And because there are no federal restrictions on the amount of land that can be foreign owned, it's been left up to individual states to decide on any limitations.

The Japs use to own a lot of property in the US. Then their economy tanked. Not so much any more.

I wonder how much property american owns abroad, it may be far far more than foreign ownership here, were just not told about it.

It should be concerning that the country is subjected to so much foreign influence.

Their influence is illusionary. As a sovereign, the US could seize foreign owned property if that nation tried to influence US policy.

They most certainly could- the court case would come later.

And if there was proof that the nation in question was trying to influence US policy, the courts would defer to the executive.
