    Cooking Adventures

Today's cooking adventure is going to be something bad. I know that alot of people here do not eat fried food. I don't eat it often but I do eat fried food. We need the oil, for our myelin, It coats our nerves.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myelin They also say that if we have Omega 3 fatty acid, it can prevent things like Alzheimer's and dementia. It has been found that people who take statins develop Alzheimer's because of this very reason.http://healthimpactnews.com/2012/the...se-alzheimers/ But that is for each of us to decide on our own. Good healthy oils are important. https://healthfully.com/repair-myeli...d-7894361.html Here is one more link on how to repair our myelin. https://www.optimallivingdynamics.co...tion-of-myelin Of course we don't have to eat fried food to get our essential oil, and fats. But I feel that every now and then it can't hurt.

Back to today's cooking adventure. It is fluffy Basmati rice with fried Potatoes, Celery, and Onions.

    Ingredients:
    Basmati rice
    Sliced Celery
    Diced Onion
    Cubed Potato
Himalayan salt (you could use any salt)
    Garlic powder

First I fried up the Potatoes, celery, and Onions in a pan, adding salt and garlic powder and olive oil to my own preference.

Next I added some fresh cooked fluffy basmati rice to a bowl, and added a spoon full of the fried potato mixture.

    DSC03051.jpg

Lastly I added a small spoon of Chili oil to my rice that I made with Olive oil. (Chili oil is pepper infused oil) I added a spoon of salsa, and stirred it all together. This is the final product.

There is a difference between 'fried' foods, and 'deep fried' foods.

IMO, the 'fried' that you did above, is more a quick saute with oil, then 'frying'. If you are feeling a bit guilty, drop the potato mixture onto a paper towel or some paper napkins, and pat off some of the oil, then continue on. Olive oil will also work, and reduce the guilt.

No guilt here LoL. Yes, I did use olive oil. I only use a few types of oil. Olive oil, occasional Coconut oil, and rarely real grass fed butter I mean rarely. Oh also rare ghee, as rare as the butter. But for some people this recipe may be considered over the top bad. For me I think it is awesome. I normally just eat my rice with some salsa and fresh diced vegetables, but this occasional treat is awesome.

That looks good! Basamati is one of my favorite types of rice. What's the red I'm seeing? A little red pepper, or just the color?

I agree about healthy oils -- have you tried MCT? I use MCT in coffee and I also like coconut and olive oils.

Oh yeah, I threw in a spoon of chili oil it has some chunks of pepper flakes. :) I have not tried MCT oil. I do know that many people who do the Keto lifestyle do use it a lot. I will most likely try the oil one of these days. I am interested.

Basmati is also my favorite rice. I do like Jasmine as well, but basmati is amazing.

That's an awful lot of starch, and starch plays to dementia, especially if one does not exercise.

I normally don't pre cook them at all, but I did this time. I diced them and cooked them in the microwave for about 3 minutes but they were not done at all. Then I put some olive oil in the pan and fried them. It took a while.

Try telling that to the Japanese :) The Japanese eat rice every day, many live to old age. Potatoes are also very good for you, they have tons of Potassium. They have almost 900MG and we need up to 4500mg of Potassium per day. I do exercise every day. I am kind of injured so my exercising is light though, like walking and small weight lifting.

She did say that it was an occasional food....

Heavy starches, should be minimized in a healthy diet. Doesn't mean never... or a number of people would meet the evil me if I can't, occasionally, have my pasta....
