How about the American economic manufacturing machine? Just incredible. I read a story in one of Ambrose's books that these Germans were captured shortly after D-Day and were taken back to the beach to be shipped to England. They saw stacks and stacks of stuff -- and saw Hershey's chocolates. They knew then and there they were finished reasoning that a country that could supply their soldiers with chocolate half a world away (when they didn't have enough food to eat) couldn't be beat. (I think it was chocolates, something like that)

In the movie The Longest Day, the line was "They can fly CAKE across the Atlantic!"

Yep, GM/Cadillac motors IIRC. Their armor was inferior as well to the Germans . I'd rather be in a hole with a rifle instead of in one of those
