I only time I saw him perform was in The Band's 'The Last Waltz' concert film. His voice stands out as unique in my memory.

I saw Dr John live in the mid 70’s in Seattle. He was the opening act for ZZ Top. I wasn’t a big fan of his music though. But in the 70’s.... who cared.

He was such a creative force it amazes me sometimes. We are losing a lot of artists, writers . music execs etc from the old guard. The people now would never be able to be the fierce , independant, risk taking , creative force of nature the music industry exploded under. Im studying some things about how music weaves into the human psyche and always has. I'm taking a day or so away from it but since you are a musician who probably has an innate understanding of not only music theory etc per se but that ..something..i need a word for it. May create one. I have a word in the urban dictionary so im not above it or below it but as with my people , beside it.

BTW..if you are familier with one of fav male vocalists Daryl Hall check out "Billy Gibbons at Daryls House. In a few words Amadeus smiles. Gibbons is not only about 30th in the guitar world but a kool cat. I like his interview on tres hombres when he says " I took my string width down to 007. BB King said " thats ok." . ZZ Top recorded a lot in Memphis and bb. Sort of barbeque meets Texas rhythm and lucille makes it a special brand of palatable in its own right .Good enough for Gods
