California Poised to Give Illegal Immigrants Free Healthcare .....

California will soon make history as the state is set to become the first in the nation to give free healthcare to some illegal immigrants.

Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrats in the state legislature reached an agreement to allow low-income individuals between the ages of 19 and 25 who are in the country illegally to be eligible for Medi-Cal, the state’s Medicaid program.

About 90,000 people will qualify for the measure, which is part of a $213 billion budget deal. It is expected to cost roughly $98 million per year.

Democrats in the state had pushed for a plan that would include free healthcare for all adult illegal immigrants, but even that was a stretch for Newsom, who pointed out the measure would be cost prohibitive. …..snip~

There is nothing California Repubs can do to stop it. There is nothing those on the Right can do to stop it. They are screwed and will have to pay for those illegals.

Message to those on the Right in Californiafication.....get out. Take the Marine and Navy base with you. Leave California defenseless.

Looks that way. Plus California is allowing them to vote for school boards. Democrats aren't afraid to show the country they will do anything they can for illegals over their own citizens.

Here is what else California Democrats are doing.

In addition, the agreement is set to make California the first state to offer aid to middle-class families with their monthly health insurance premiums. Under the agreement, a family of four earning more than $150,000 would be eligible to receive about $100 a month from the government for their monthly health insurance premium bills, AP reported.

The state will reportedly tax individuals who do not pay for health insurance in order to pay for part of it. The policy would revive an individual mandate penalty that initially came with the federal health care bill former President Obama signed into law.....snip~

The individual mandate policy came from the Heritage Foundation via Mitt Romney in 2006.

For some reason, conservatives have trouble remembering this.

Don't Blame Heritage for ObamaCare Mandate

Is the individual mandate at the heart of "ObamaCare" a conservative idea? Is it constitutional? And was it invented at The Heritage Foundation? In a word, no.

After all, I headed Heritage's health work for 30 years. And make no mistake: Heritage and I actively oppose the individual mandate, including in an amicus brief filed in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to the Supreme Court.

Nevertheless, the myth persists. ObamaCare "adopts the 'individual mandate' concept from the conservative Heritage Foundation," Jonathan Alter wrote recently in The Washington Post. MSNBC's Chris Matthews makes the same claim, asserting that Republican support of a mandate "has its roots in a proposal by the conservative Heritage Foundation." Former House speaker Nancy Pelosi and others have made similar claims.

The confusion arises from the fact that 20 years ago, I held the view that as a technical matter, some form of requirement to purchase insurance was needed in a near-universal insurance market to avoid massive instability through "adverse selection" (insurers avoiding bad risks and healthy people declining coverage). At that time, President Clinton was proposing a universal health care plan, and Heritage and I devised a viable alternative.

My view was shared at the time by many conservative experts, including American Enterprise Institute (AEI) scholars, as well as most non-conservative analysts. Even libertarian-conservative icon Milton Friedman, in a 1991 Wall Street Journal article, advocated replacing Medicare and Medicaid "with a requirement that every U.S. family unit have a major medical insurance policy."

My idea was hardly new. Heritage did not invent the individual mandate.
But the version of the health insurance mandate Heritage and I supported in the 1990s had three critical features. First, it was not primarily intended to push people to obtain protection for their own good, but to protect others. Like auto damage liability insurance required in most states, our requirement focused on "catastrophic" costs — so hospitals and taxpayers would not have to foot the bill for the expensive illness or accident of someone who did not buy insurance.

Second, we sought to induce people to buy coverage primarily through the carrot of a generous health credit or voucher, financed in part by a fundamental reform of the tax treatment of health coverage, rather than by a stick.

And third, in the legislation we helped craft that ultimately became a preferred alternative to ClintonCare, the "mandate" was actually the loss of certain tax breaks for those not choosing to buy coverage, not a legal requirement......snip~

Oh look, from the same guy in your link where you say Heritage came up the Individual Mandate policy. Imagine that.

But thanks for showing all how you fell in with the Borg and their Collective.

California is trying to force all Americans to pay through the Medicaid program.

    God I hate Democrats.
