    Health. Cannabis. Church of England

    Jun 9, 2019

Medical marijuana gets backing from Church of England, FT says

The Church of England will relax a self-imposed ban and consider investments in medical marijuana, the Financial Times reported.

Cannabis is seeing an investment boom as restrictions on its use ease around the world. In the U.S., Illinois recently became the 11th state to legalize recreational marijuana, and pot is now legal in Canada. The market for legal cannabis was worth almost $11 billion globally in 2018, and is expected to reach at least $50 billion by 2029...

Cannabis should never have been made illegal.

I really don't get all the hype. It has some limited medical applications, but other than its use in the production of Hemp, there is nothing extraordinary about it.

I think most people overemphasize its usefulness to justify using it for recreational purposes.

You offer more good reasons for why it never should have been made illegal.

I am certainly not a proponent of its recreational use... never have been, never will be. I do however, think that making it illegal created more problems than it solved.

    I wonder why?

I don't smoke anything. I appreciate working lungs. I suppose there are many things that are legal that I do not partake of.

In a lot of cases that is true.

While it’s not marijuana, CBD oil has been effective with me for pain relief as a result of injuries I sustained in the military.

Big pharma has been one of the most significant barriers to the medical use of marijuana (which doesn't have to be smoked, by the way). It has a 12,000 year old history of being used medicinally. The origins of the pharmaceutical industry was plant extracts and still is to a certain degree, but they don't want to compete with modern day shamans where simple MJ extracts can replace many addictive and expensive pharmaceuticals.

Your list showed about 3 things.

Some minor analgesic effect, appetite stimulant and anti-nausea.

As I said... way overhyped, mostly by people who want to justify their own use of it.

I believe we should leave you to your intentional ignorance. This is a blind spot for you.
