    At some point when I'm more settled I want to raise goats and chickens, partly for slaughtering but I'm worried about getting attached to them. I'm kind of the same way with critters.

    Not overly though.

    I've experienced it with my own tomatoes - it's annoying and frustrating. You have to put a chickenwire cage around them. We tried using blood meal to discourage them but I think they just held their breath. Still, I never wanted to kill them over some tomatoes.

    Not overly though.
    If you name them they stop being livestock. Even if you don't, you didn't grow up on a farm. It's different killing an animal that you don't know than killing one that you do. Chickens are easier not to name or become attached to, if you have enough of them. It's really the same with other animals like goats. If you only have a handful, they become very familiar.

    I kind of figured that so I planned on not naming them outside of goofy things to identify them.
