A massive wolf’s head that’s been encased in permafrost for 40,000 years — with its fur and teeth still intact — was discovered in Russia, a report said Tuesday.


People scavenging for ivory discovered the amazingly well-preserved head on the banks of the Tirekhtyakh River in eastern Siberia, CNN reported.


Locals then took it to the Academy of Science in the Russian Republic of Sakha, according to the report.


The director of the department told the news network that the discovery is the first time an ancient wolf has been found after 40,000 years with its soft tissue still intact.
