If your worker population shrinks you need to cut benefits or risk the consequences of too much debt.
I disagree wholeheartedly with the basic premise of your post . Why do you consider it so taboo to suggest that corporations and wealthy people should pay the same tax as workers ? .........be honest.

Asked and answered with regards to corporate taxes. Corporations don't pay taxes. See above.

So far as the wealthy go, they pay the bulk of the taxes already.

Those graphed stats are a bit rubbery.....some of them could be quite easily used to support both our points of view.....that's numbers for ya - they can be used an infinite number of ways to paint too very different stories

They show three different things. 1. Where tax payers lie in relation to each other. 2. their AGIs. And 3. Who pays the taxes.

Focus on 3. It does not support your view. How much more do you want the wealthy to pay?

I don't want the wealthy to pay more.....because I'm one of them. Governments waist tax-payer's money . What I would like to see is an eradication of unscrupulous corrupt methods of becoming wealthy , and all tax havens shut down , with far more transparency into our governments , with a particular microscope focused on the secret dealings of lobby groups and how they influence lawmakers.Wealthy people do not need a pay rise , working people do desperately......not just because they deserve it , but because it would boost the economy in real terms , not just in the fancy numbers game.

I don't have a problem with government transparency or adjusting tax deductions.

The way to grow the middle class is to grow the economy. You don't do that with the heavy hand of the government.
