America really needs to change it's election laws, and if not, we ought to give up the farce that we are a "Democracy."
It was bad enough after Republican appointed "justices" on the U.S. Supreme Court made their "Citizens United" decision, which allow the infusion of vast amounts of private money into the campaign process, thereby tilting the election towards those who could spend the most money, but in addition, the GOP control of state legislatures enabled them to gerrymander the states into grotesque shapes so that even if they lost the majority of the vote in the state, they still wound up with a majority of the representatives for the state legislature, and the House of Representatives!
And to further insure that the GOP could steal and cheat to win elections, they have also engaged in a nationwide voter suppression activities that resulted in the GW Bush "election," and the Trump "election," with help from the antiquated and undemocratic "Electoral College" system.
But now the depraved and deranged Trump, who illegitimately sits in the WH, and who denied he "colluded with Russia" during the 2016 campaign, is now openly advocating for foreign intervention in our elections!!!!
Trump knows that our enemy, the despot of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the murderous Prince MBS of Saudi Arabia, will "support" him with millions of $$$ (or more), and will do all they can to insure his return to the WH, because he has been their "play toy," and done their bidding while in the WH.
So now, thanks to "Citizens United," and Trump's contempt for the rule of law in America, Trump and the GOP will be the recipients of "foreign aid" from our enemies and insidious dictators, who want America to ignore their war-crimes and/or all out genocidal wars (Yemen) as the case may be.
If the Congress doesn't pass a law prohibiting this kind of "collusion with foreign powers," the lights in America will turn out, because Trump and the GOP have made it a very dark place !!!
