Thirteen White Police Officers Sue San Francisco For Racial Discrimination

Thirteen white police officers are suing the City of San Francisco for alleged discrimination due to their race and refusing to give them promotions in favor of minority candidates.


“The city — to this day — has a long-standing practice and custom of discriminating against white males in SFPD promotions to the rank of sergeant, lieutenant and captain,” the group's attorney, M. Greg Mullanax, states in the lawsuit.



The lawsuit challenges a "test-scoring method that the city adopted in 1979 in response to a lawsuit from a group representing black and female officers, who alleged discrimination in hiring and promotions," according to Time Magazine.



Time Magazine also reports that Mullanax argued before the court, "In 2016, the department promoted three black sergeants, even though their scores were lower than those of 11 white candidates who were denied promotions."

Inevitably the worm was going to turn. Eventually this country will ostracize all racism and all discrimination.

I still am baffled by the videos I see that have minorities claim they can't be racist because they are a minority. All racism is ignorant. White racism was bred into generation after generation just as minority racism is being bred into generation after generation.

With that being said these are first world problems. We are not distracted by the simple things others in the world lack... Like food or clean water...

The lowering of standards to become a police officer did much damage over time, couple that with the hiring of less qualified supervisors and you get what you get.

Affirmative Action never was to guarantee anyone a promotion or a job, it was designed to assure people qualified had the opportunity to get the job. Equality comes from qualified individuals being hired no matter what race, not one race being passed over by less qualified individuals for equality

Very few racial minorities or women disagree with their preferential treatment. Seeing whites males passed over causes minorities to lose no sleep. More than likely their attitude is "sucks to be you white male".

Don't cry about it and apply to fairer departments that could use your skills.

A lot of this kind of thing stems from seeing individuals not as individuals, but as members of a race - the thinking being that one race, as a group, must be advanced, regardless of what effect that has on individuals of another race. It is not, as it's sometimes called, "reverse discrimination" - it's just discrimination, without a qualifier.
