Duly note...with every 2% average gain the ending balance triples. Its very important to understand risk is commiserate with reward. One thing I ran into quite frequently were married couples. Future was both worked / planned 2.2 kids/ retire etc. ..
What I did my best and with properly identifying what their #1. "type"was. #2. Risk tolerance #3 objectives #4. Expectations #5. Net worth, debts ,income, liquid , investable liquid.
The above helps determine the first thing and it has to be done. "Suitability" ..yes/no. If yes lets move on

So.. 25 year old couple. Im like "i envy time is the essence of life. Without it, we cease.. With it , we flourish. Life is not a straight line. If it was you wouldn't need me and I wouldnt be here. ( I dont tell any of them that behaviorial studies show that solid over wins are insufficient stimuli. By nature humans tend to self.destruct..smoking ,drinking ,tv 24/7, dietary etc. Death by spec account? Nope . if they lose in it they need me more than ever. Again "time' ride the clock.

Hoosier..greetings, again. You said something that is magic. Isn't 10% high? That's a person with realistic Expectations. If a client were to drive me crazy. Uh relative terms ok? The client that says " isn't 12% a bit low"? My answer. I do not say is "fantastic . groomed for this as a child but just learned 12% is too low. Might as well divide his account by number of attempts and be sure to get my cut.

S&P up 15%....
Quite the divergence.
#1. Is your 401 I'm your company stock only or mostly?
#2. If no to #1 is it weighted heavy in rnerfu sector,
Financials ?
#3 . if yes to 1 or 2 then you may have too much cash and equivalents to spool up ..

If no to the above...i dont want to know personal stuff. Dont need to.just a yes or no.to 1 2 or 3 The elephant is so large its likely one fell swoop fix it.
