As for Japan, it has been allowed only a small self-defense force--it is, in fact, written into its Constitution--ever since the end of WWII.

Some people prefer the policy of isolationism (now re-labeled "non-interventionism"; that does sound so much better).

But I am not one of those people.
It is up to Norway to defend Norwegian shipping.
It is up to Japan to defend Japanese shipping.

It has nothing to do with isolation. I wonder if you know what it means?

It is happy talk to believe adding one more person to the sanctions is a great response. Happy talk is designed to keep you happy. Clearly it is working.

    (1) It is up to the US to defend American interests--especially when other countries cannot effectively do so.

And this certainly involved American interests.

    (2) Then please explain to me the difference between the older term, isolationism, and the newer term (clearly euphemistic), non-interventionism.

Well, I suppose that we will see if personal sanctions will make a difference.

I think that they will certainly cause a serious pinch--to say the least.

I vastly preferred both over Bill Clinton and Barack Obama (who were sandwiched in between...well, with Obama actually coming after both).

No. Defending another rich nation's ships is not in our interest. It is in their interest.

We are broke. It is time for us to stop giving free lunches to other nations. They can defend their ships if they choose to. If they don't it is not our problem.

Why would I bother to explain the difference between two terms I have not used. Do your own homework.

Both Bush presidents were Progressive Republicans. Simply look at what the Elder did. He wiped out Reagan's legacy.

We had sanctions on 700 entities and people the day before the destruction of 200 million dollars worth of American property. Today we have sanctions on 701 entities and persons. No difference. Happy Talk.

    My question is why?

A few days ago I heard a credible, but unconfirmed story. If true the person responsible should be hanged. Or shot.

The sanctions against the Supreme Leader and all he appoints should hurt them economically since the Supreme Leader has massive business interests.
