Post How 7.4 Tons of Venezuela’s Gold Landed in Africa—and Vanished

How 7.4 Tons of Venezuela’s Gold Landed in Africa—and Vanished. Secret deliveries to a refinery in Uganda expose a global underground economy many suspect is helping Nicolás Maduro cling to power.

ENTEBBE, Uganda—The government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is selling off his country’s gold reserves. Some of it has passed through a secretive operation in East Africa, a gambit that evades U.S. sanctions.

The article doesn't say how they know this to be fact (at least up the part you can read until you pay a membership fee in order to read the rest of the article), so I'd like to know more on how they know this to be fact.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

So, let's just suppose that this is true. Who is really suffering from U.S. sanctions...Maduro? He is not going without the necessities of life, the people of Venezuela are. These sanctions are the equivalent of shooting the family members of an individual to force them to play ball. So he is smuggling out gold in order to fund the economy. Who in God's creation nominated America as the world's overlord, to dictate to other countries that they must starve their neighbors (along with America) in order to force regime change? Socialism is popular in Venezuela despite what America might think of it. Their oil is their own, as a sovereign nation. Their government is also their own to change at their will, not at the will of those who support what I would deem, the new world order, where multinational entities like "big oil" control nations because they own the likes of America. In the meantime, other Latin American nations are taking in Venezuelan refugees on their dime, while America feels no qualms about refusing them entry, even though America has created a Venezuelan refugee crisis.

Maduro is trying to help feed his people. Regardless of the politics involved, do you deny the Venezuelan people the right to eat?
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

I hate to always be the guy asking these questions. But please remind me why we have any right to tell one country that they cannot sell gold to another country? Also does anyone know how many countries we are now sanctioning.

We already took a lot of the wealthy Venezuelans. We don't need any more.

The people suffer from sanctions. That is the point. to make them angry at the leadership. If kids die in the process, oh well, it's all just geopolitical chess. We have to be able to say socialism never works at all, anywhere, even if we have to make it fail in order to say that.

I think you may be mistaken on the sanctions issue being American driven. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intern...ezuelan_crisis
Also, they tried to change the government and their effort was stolen.
