    British Food vs American Food

I always hear on this forum how we have horrid food stuffs from the same lot who purport their cuisine as being better and yet it is remarkably similar to ours.

    Fried chicken came from Scotland
    Bacon was our invention
    Mashed potatoes belongs to us
Pot pies are ours, as well
    Pizza came from the Italians
    Hot dogs from the Germans

What exactly is "American food" and what makes it better than British food?

I haven't had the pleasure of eating British food but from friends of mine I'm told British food is very bland. They say breakfast food is good but the rest, bland. Now remember they are travelers and were eating hotel, restaurant and pub food. Now you've been to the US, what did you find different?

I would say the most uniquely American food would be BBQ.

That's my point. I don't really see the difference in food. Most of the best food I've eaten in the States is Mexican.

Too right! I forgot about that bit. I had some brilliant BBQ at Codename's.
