Why are they so violent? Because they've lost catastrophically in the battle of ideas, and they know it. They see no hope of winning at the ballot box, so they're threatening to assassinate people, in the hopes of intimidating them into silence.

Here is a good editorial from the Las Vegas Review that shows why the National Park Service had to remove signs from Glacier National Park that claimed the glaciers would be gone by 2020. Probably because the glaciers are still there, and expanding.

Would you be surprised to find out that insurers and reinsurers (a staunchly conservative sector of the market) tend to support the notion of global warming and climate change? It seriously affects their bottom line, what with all the flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, mudslides etc.

Conservative in insurance is quite a different thing from conservative in politics.

They are heavily politically conservative - not that everyone who works in the industry is conservative.
Not could - does seriously affect their bottom line. They end up with hideous loss ratios without the hope that the following 3 or so years will give them a reprieve such that they can make enough profits to eventually offset the really bad nat cat year losses. Severity and frequency is increasing. One sign that they are suffering is reflected in the increasing numbers of mergers and acquisitions.

Global warming and climate change are not the same thing. Climate changes constantly, which does not necessarily equate to global warming. There are constant shifts in solar activity, with spans of lower, and higher activity, which causes the fluctuations in average temperatures for specific areas. You'll note that one area may be above average, while another is lower than average.

While I fully support the guardianship of our planet, it is unrealistic and plain ridiculous that taxing it can stop change, or cow farts have an effect on something that is a natural cycle.

Why do you think they are doing any more than CYA? I know the climate is changing. I don't know how and I don't know how we change that. Rising seas? They all rise or none do. I live right on the coast and my seas aren't rising. Explain that.
