Yes it's at the top of Lookout Mountain, which is where Rock City is. And yes there were undoubtedly skirmishes there, but Rock City is privately owned and not part of the National Park battle grounds. If you want to "see the 7 states" you'll have to buy a ticket to enter the Rock City tourist attraction.

There is an admission to Point Park which is at the peak of Lookout Mountain. You can drive up the mountain. It is the Lookout Mountain railway that charges, as does Rock City, but the battlefield and museum/gift shops there are open to the public at no cost.

This is an enjoyable documentary about the battle. Shiloh and Antietam have been of great interest to me for various reasons.

I'm a little late to this game,but I'm gonna try to watch this later. Spent one day at Shiloh in June 2017. Not enough time.

I will be in Chattanooga next week. Going to check out the local Civil War sites.

Been to Chattanooga/Chickamauga twice. First time was in June 2017. Visited Franklin for a half-day and Tunnel Hill,GA for a half-day on that trip. The last visit was October last year. Also went to Dalton,Resaca and Tunnel Hill again on that trip.

Yes, I will hit Lookout Mountain (I was there a long time ago). On my way back to VA I will stop there again and check out other sites.

The Wilderness is only a museum and some trees. Marye's Hill is a little interesting.
