Hmmmmm. Can Lacrosse work as a professional sport in this country? In my book, no. Thoughts?

I think there are a lot of factors working against it - from the fact that most people have never played it on any level or even seen a game, to the goofy way the players dress - helmets and short pants? - to the sport's slightly elitist connotations in a lot of folks' minds. You think about the popular American team sports - Baseball, football, basketball, even soccer - and you see friends and family members playing some version of those games at the park or in the backyard. A big part of a sport's popularity is whether a spectator can to some extent imagine him- or herself doing it.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

It appears to be a thing here in NOVA- at least for girls. I have not seen a male team.

    I don't think it's much of a spectator sport.

It actually is, but at the High School/College level, I couldn't see it catching on, on a pro level though.

Watching it in High School and College was about as interesting as watching a fly crawl up a drape. IMO, I don't think anything has changed much to spur any new interest in the game.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

I don't think it will ever be popular enough to be professional. There is no money or interest in it

I don't think so. Big time sports is hyped so hard for so long by so many networks now that it would take a monumental effort to make the big four a big five. Of course it would give all that 24/7 broadcasting 25% more material to cover, so there is that.
Personally, I see young people as a little less interested in spectator sports than our generation was in general. It's probably for the best, the whole thing is out of control and the golden goose is being strangled as we speak.

Like many sports... probably funner to participate than to spectate.
