Australia Weighs ‘Difficult, Uncomfortable’ Question of Nuclear Weapons

"Anxieties Down Under about the implacable rise of China are reaching new heights: a former military adviser-turned-professor has published a book calling for Canberra to weigh arguments in favor of a nuclear weapons program more strongly, as the US seems to be vacillating in its commitments to Pacific allies. A Shifting World "We have to ask ourselves, can we defend ourselves against a power like China?" Hugh White, a former defense strategist to several Australian prime ministers who now teaches strategic studies at the Australian National University, summarized his new book thusly in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald on July 1."......https://sputniknews.com/asia/2019070...clear-weapons/

Which will be a cool trick, as at the last census, Australia's population was 24 million.

Australia is more than capable of "nuking up" in a very short time . We have ALL the technology we need , plus no shortage of uranium deposits on tap . The biggest danger would be America imposing sanctions on Australia for looking after our own interests , independent of the US......(lol)........regarding size , we are a bigger country than Israel . However , I doubt Australia would ever bother , or have the need . We get on quite well with our neighbours , including China.

So, essentially what Mr. Hugh White is saying, that in his opinion if Chine attacks Australia, whether conventionally or nuclear the US will do or will be powerless to do anything. Poppy$#@!, sounds more like Mr. Hugh White is drumming up book sales.
It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

I dont see australia needing a nuke if used in war small tatical nukes are more usefull. Hittinng main land china or russia with a few icbis would result in either one raining down hell on you. Australias military has not got the manpower or eqt to resit a all out invastion.
I do think the usa would intervene as much as you hate up. What we bring to the table is a top of the line air power and armor.units along with percision artillery and missile systems
