It's amazing how fast The Waltons fell apart after Ellen Corby's stroke

Shortly after Ellen Corby has her stroke, the main character, John Boy, is taken away after Richard Thomas leaves, only returning for a guest appearance. Not long after that, the episode after "Grandma Returns", Will Geer passes way. Then Michael Learned leaves. Seasons 8 and 9 are not very entertaining with four of the main characters gone.

    The horror, the horror.

I think the Walton's have been off the air for 38 years now.

That's a show I haven't thought about in a long time. I remember when the actress who played the oldest daughter attempted to shake her goody-goody image by posing for 'Playboy'. I don't recall her acting career exactly skyrocketing after that, however.

She would have been better off to have gotten a regular job like Ken Osmond did when Leave It To Beaver concluded. Mr. Osmond became a police officer in California.

Another child actor who went in another direction and gained some success was Kevin Corcoran, who appeared in many Disney films in the late '50s, early '60s. He was in Old Yeller, The Shaggy Dog, and many others - usually playing the younger brother of Tommy Kirk, and his character was usually called "Moochie". He got to be an older teenager and realized he just wasn't "cute" any more, went to college to study film making, and spent the next 40+ years behind the camera as an assistant director, production manager, etc. (I saw his name in the credits of an episode of Sons of Anarchy and said, "Wait a minute...!")
