A routine traffic stop turned into a violent war inside of a gas station … with NFL player Malik McDowell fighting a police officer after being hit with a taser.

Calling him an NFL player is a little misleading. He was drafted, signed a contract and immediately screwed up and never stopped. He then was released by the team which drafted him. He's never played a down in an NFL game. He's a bone-head.

Gee I wonder why this loose cannon is a free agent? So has he earned enough money and made enough connected friends in his 2 years to get out of this? Sounds like DUI with a suspended license, typically suspended for DUI in these cases and assaulting a police officer.

He did get a fairly decent signing bonus which he doesn’t need to pay back. It was enough that he could do fairly well in life if he doesn’t blow it like the bone-head he is.

On the one hand, the cop should have just called for backup and stalled the guy a little longer with some talking. On the other hand, the video gives us an idea of why certain people get shot by police due to their mistaken belief that they are invincible or above the law.
