Killer Cop Gets Gigantic Pension for PTSD

This Cop Is Getting $2,500 a Month Because Killing an Unarmed Man in a Hotel Hallway Gave Him PTSD

Phillip Brailsford was acquitted of murder for a shooting captured on video that subsequently drew national outrage. Now he's getting paid for it.

    SCOTT SHACKFORD | 7.11.2019 3:15 PM

An Arizona cop acquitted of murder in 2017 for killing a man crawling on his knees, begging for his life, in a hotel hallway, was temporarily rehired by the city he worked for so that he could claim a disability pension and file for a medical retirement that will pay him more than $2,500 a month for the rest of his life.

Former Mesa Police Officer Philip Mitchell Brailsford drew national attention and outrage in December 2017 when a jury found him not guilty of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Daniel Shaver. Brailsford shot Shaver in a confrontation in a hotel hallway in 2016 after police were called there by somebody who had seen Shaver holding a gun in his room.

The gun turned out to be a pellet gun, but police apparently didn't know that. During the response, police ordered Shaver, who was unarmed, out into the hallway on his knees and ordered him to crawl in their direction while keeping his hands up, and they continued to bark confusing orders at him. As Shaver, clearly terrified, attempted to comply, at one point he gestured behind himself, possibly to pull up his pants, and Brailsford immediately opened fire, killing him.

The shooting was captured on police body camera footage, but it wasn't released to the public until after the jury acquitted Brailsford. (You can watch the footage here.)
So not only did this cowardly thug kill an innocent American for no good reason, he now gets $2,500 in monthly disability payments for the rest of his life. And the kicker? His "disability" is PTSD resulting from the killing. Wow. Kill an innocent man and the system pays you $2,500 a month for the rest of your life. If this coward lives for another fifty years, that will be $1.5 million in payments.

If there is a more perfect example of how insanely corrupt and unjust law enforcement has become in America, I haven't seen it.

That cop should have been hanged.

    Oh.

So the cop was threatened with a gun and the jury acquitted him of murder.

I side with the jury on this one.

Maybe other people should stop calling the police just because they've wet their pants at they thought yhey saw a gun looking thing?

It's not illegal to have a thing that looks like a gun.

Let's sue the gun grabbing nazis for this man's death.

The man he killed had no gun. He was unarmed and posed no threat. He had committed no crime.

The cop should be hanged in front of the court house and left exposed for the birds as an example.

There is video of this shooting, this is one of the worst shoots I have ever seen in my life, that cop should be in prison, or worse. This is coming from someone who supports the police 110%. Go watch the video. I know I know, ethereal actually got one right. Blind squirrel and all that.

The police were responding to a complaint about an allegedly armed man.

The suspect reached for a place of concealment on his person.

Shooting him in thst event is not second degree murder.

You should blame the friggn'district attorney who was charging to high for the failure to get a conviction.

The charge should have possibly been man slaughter. Ask the legal beagles here for the difference, but I'm pretty sure second degree did not fit the circumstances.
