Because we know that is a huge problem today.

Under federal law, you get two years for a firearms charge. So, I don't know what are talking about.

The machinery is in place. Use it.

Well, there's tremendous amount of time, money and resources that go into a class action suit. The Courts frequently limit fees and all fees have to be approved by a court in a class action suit. Remember, attorneys take things on risk -- you eliminate the upside to the risk you are going to close the courthouse doors to people that need it.

I don't know what this is about. Please clarify.

Ohio and many other states have acted on this by limiting punitive damages.

How do you do that? Lower the standard? Should we lower the standard for the prosecution also?

I agree but SCOTUS recently disagreed with us.
They are victimless in the sense that you arer not harming or stealing from anyone else. You are doing what you are doing to yourself. Tobacco is an exception because of 2nd hand smoke.

    2) what does exist to regulate judges? It does not seem like they are held to professional standards in the same way doctors, nurses, social workers , lawyers etc are.
    3) this guy got 20.
    4) That already happens for those who's case isn't worth the big bucks.
    5) Stop or limit civil suits that are filed for something the person has been criminally acquitted of.
    6) That's a start.
    7) Reasonable doubt or reasonable man test.
    8) It's partly about federal power over the states and state's rights are no longer fashionable anywhere.

It is a problem, given the degree of institutionalized corruption among Republicans now. What's keeping them from even more flagrant criminality is knowing that a show-acquittal in a venue they control won't get them off the hook.

    That is pure stupidity.

    1. Gambling, drugs and prostitution harm families, wives, kids etc.

    2. No. There are tens of thousands of decisions made every day. You only hear about the occasional bad one.

    3. Then it wasn’t a weapons charge.

    4. This makes no sense.

    5. No. It is a lesser standard in a ccivil case. If you harm someone you should compensate them.

    6. You are welcome.

    7. You want to undo the jury by a reasonable person standard when it took beyond a reasonable doubt to convict? I don’t understand why?

    8. I agree that SCOTUS was wrong. Not for the reason you say, but I agree.

Cease misusing the legal term of art double jeopardy. Your use is a sign of ignorance. Better to stay silent than to say something stupid.
