    The Squad

Some have suggested that President Trump's criticism to the four members of "The Squad"--i.e. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY); Ayanna Pressley (D-MA); Ilhan Omar (D-MN); and Rashida Tlaib (D-MN)--is inherently racist, since these are all "women of color."

But sometimes it is possible to confuse causation with mere correlation.

Or--even when causation actually exists--to misunderstand the direction in which it runs. (In other words, does X actually cause Y? Or does Y cause X?)

It may, indeed, be no coincidence that these are all "women of color."

But is it not possible that they have simply refused to assimilate into the dominant culture? That they have, instead, embraced the "fruit salad" metaphor that is the basis for multiculturalism?

Note: I do think that President Trump could have been a bit less strident in his criticism of them. But that is really not the topic here. And I am hoping that we can all stay on topic.

It would be easier to call out the criticism of them as racism if they didn't advocate such fringe and extreme positions. Being a person of color does not shield one from criticism for advocating extremist positions.

Do not think for one moment that this group did not expect, and plan for, criticism, especially if it came from Trump.

They beleive it a weapon, but unfortunately, the word racism has been so watered down, that it has no value. While they will also play up the fact that these are women, will also feed the frenzy of those who find hurt everywhere they look, even if it doesn't exist.

Trump is tactless, but actively so. He uses it to engender mindless response....

It's all disingenous garbage, and there is some truth behind your post. They decided to become a "squad" because all four of them are anti-Semitic, anti-white, anti-American. The left also wants to make a new rule where white conservatives who attack non-white progressives are automatically racist.

It would be easier to lie about their opponents as being racist if the Squat weren't such rabidly honest socialist America hating lunatics?

Since opposition to the Squat and all the other Rodents, too, has nothing to do with racism, how could it be easier to make the lie stick if the Squat was marginally more dishonest about their treasonous motives?

    This is exactly true!

There was a time--perhaps 50 years ago--when I would have simply detested having been called a racist (although it did not actually happen).

Now, however, I would actually be proud to be called a racist!

That is because--as you said--the word no longer carries any real meaning; or, at least, to whatever extent it does actually still have some meaning, it simply means that the left despises the subject of the attack--and is, therefore, willing to use rhetoric of the nuclear sort...

The left uses the accusation of racism as both a way to defend themselves from criticism of their ideas and to criticize their political opponents.

To criticize their political opponents when they have absolutely no other foundation for their criticism.
