Robert Foster, a state representative in Mississippi who is running for governor, got into hot water last week after he denied journalist Larrison Campbell’s request for a 15-hour “ride along” with his campaign.

Foster was blunt about his reasoning. He tweeted: “Before our decision to run, my wife and I made a commitment to follow the ‘Billy Graham Rule,’ which is to avoid any situation that may evoke suspicion or compromise of our marriage. I am sorry Ms. Campbell doesn’t share these views, but my decision was out of respect of my wife.”

Pastor Homer Lindsey Jr., the late pastor of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville FL would also never ride alone with a female who was not his wife. He also would not go on Visitations alone. This was 20 years ago. I don't blame him for this position. There was a previous minister in Jacksonville who was murdered by a woman who was stalking him and made it seem like they were having an affair. It is all the more important today when every male of high status is being accused of events happening years ago and completely unprovable.

This is the natural fallout from the #MeToo movement. Of course it was going to have negative effects. No man in his right mind today will put himself at risk. It's simply not worth it.

I have no problem with that reasoning. Of course you could provide a chaperone but one wouldn't be enough to break a possible he said she said tie. I however am bound by no such rule and I will drive her around for a day if she wishes.
