Wages should be determined by mutual agreement between employer and employee. There should be no government mandated minimum wage at any level, federal, state or municipal.

. I do not personally agree with a $15/hr minimum wage in most cases, and I also think there should be a breakdown that would decrease it for individuals like students and servers (students are typically dependents, servers who get tips). Ontario is capped at $14/hr now - the Liberal Government had planned to increase it to $15/hr but then the Conservatives won a majority.
Actually, that $15 minimum wage is not too far away, even without a government mandate. President Trump's superior economic policies are creating so many high paying jobs that even the burger joints are going to have to ante up to keep even the DUMBEST folks flipping burgers and harvesting fries.

Trump is raising the minimum wage the right way: by expanding the economy.

Very true. Do it the TRUMP way, by expanding the economy and creating record numbers of high paying jobs, and private employers will have to raise wages just to get workers.

Do it the Nazi Pelosi way, and McJob companies just lay off the stupid and cut the hours of the rest.

I don't think that most business owners employee people out of the goodness of their heart, If the automation was dependable enough today, all those people would be on the street, even if they were being paid $5 per hour since the owners could save more money if they were weren't paying any salaries. Additionally, those people displaced by automation (and I've read where over the next couple of decades it could be significant) in many cases will end up leaving the work force due to lack of jobs, means less money to be spent on purchases/dinners/fast food, etc. Automation may be fun to watch, but people need to be able to work.

Once the thrill of having a machine handle and prepare your food wears off, people will realize that there is a human element missing and long for the old days of having another human to interface with when ordering/preparing food.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

Agreed, but I think the question remains, will there be enough jobs created for those who lose theirs due to automation?

People with drive will figure it out. Slackers will get left behind.

Most of this is grandstanding. The R's did it when they had the house, pass something knowing it won't pass in the Senate. Or play musicial chairs and have a few to vote against it in your party.

If it passes it passes, don't care.

I think the thrill of fast food has worn off for me, especially since it is being prepared by idiot high school dropouts. Machine or moron, I'd rather cook the stuff at home.
