    $15 minimum federal minimum wage?

Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Interesting. I do not personally agree with a $15/hr minimum wage in most cases, and I also think there should be a breakdown that would decrease it for individuals like students and servers (students are typically dependents, servers who get tips). Ontario is capped at $14/hr now - the Liberal Government had planned to increase it to $15/hr but then the Conservatives won a majority.

Raising the minimum wage so high seems to create more problems, but I am also sort of watching Ontario see what happens. Initially, meltdowns. Seems to have calmed down, though. Should probably look to see whether studies have been done now on the initial implementation.

Passage of the bill is a victory for fast-food workers, who have been pushing for a $15 minimum wage across the country for more than five years.
It won't be a victory for those whose full time job gets turned into a part time job. And it won't be a victory for those not hired due to the increase in labor costs.

I see this causing issues in the Fast food business, prices will rise demand will drop, places will close or cut back.

Cities and states have passed $15 min wage laws and seen the negative effects. It makes perfect sense the federal government would learn from their mistakes.

Whether you intended this as humor or not, my laughter was loud.....

In the Seattle area, non franchised mom and pop type restaurants which were there for decades either went out of business or moved elsewhere.

As far as a federal minimum wage goes, I don't know why the US congress thinks one size fits all.

Yeah, all this really does is expedite the automation process.

Granted, I would rather have my food handled by a robot than most of the kind of people who work these restaurants.

Cheap migrant labor retards technological development. There is a saying and it rings true: Japan gets robots while we get Mexicans.
