Interesting. I do not personally agree with a $15/hr minimum wage in most cases, and I also think there should be a breakdown that would decrease it for individuals like students and servers (students are typically dependents, servers who get tips). Ontario is capped at $14/hr now - the Liberal Government had planned to increase it to $15/hr but then the Conservatives won a majority.
Raising the minimum wage so high seems to create more problems, but I am also sort of watching Ontario see what happens. Initially, meltdowns. Seems to have calmed down, though. Should probably look to see whether studies have been done now on the initial implementation.
It won't be a victory for those whose full time job gets turned into a part time job. And it won't be a victory for those not hired due to the increase in labor costs.Passage of the bill is a victory for fast-food workers, who have been pushing for a $15 minimum wage across the country for more than five years.

I see this causing issues in the Fast food business, prices will rise demand will drop, places will close or cut back.

Cities and states have passed $15 min wage laws and seen the negative effects. It makes perfect sense the federal government would learn from their mistakes.
