Bernie Sanders has made the $15.00 an hour minimum wage a central part of his campaign. Now he’s fighting paying his employees $15.00 an hour. Liberals are either silent on this or justifying it like @gamewell45 is.

That is until his campaign staff starts making demands for better pay, right? Yeah, it seems so. The Sanders campaign has unionized and is demanding $15/hour for staff nationwide and so far the left-wing candidate’s leadership is silent on the matter.

If you look at the math, if accepted by Sanders, it would mean a pay increase of over 100%; I don't know of many people who get a raise of that percentage in a labor contract. These days most people are lucky if they get 2 or 3% yearly so it's understandable that they'd fight for the $15 per hour rate. The union would be better off proposing pay increases based on geographic location.

That's how the collective bargaining process works. The union comes in and asks for the moon and the company offers them an empty bag; it's from that point they begin negotiations for wages and terms and conditions of employment. If Bernie had simply caved in and said yes, he'd be criticized by his opponents for being weak.

They think it's fine for everyone but them? Sanders tried to worm out by saying they make 17 dollars an hours if you count benefits. He's calling for 15 dollars an hour in wages while paying 13.60 an hour. There's your liberals at their best.

That's quite possible; It's also important to know that it is still early on the negotiation process and normally both sides will issue press releases touting their positions. I got the impression from reading the article, when all is said and done, retroactive wages and other negotiated perks such as mileage and per diem will be included in the labor agreement. I don't think it's as gloomy a picture for Sanders despite what the Conservative leaning Town Hall publishes on the internet. The Washington Post link paints a much different positive picture IMO and that is one of working together to forge an acceptable labor agreement acceptable to both sides.
