Cold means water freezing and an accumulation of ice sheets.

Other than ice cores and a few other methods we just don't have reliable long term data. So inferences can be made either way. There is even a scenario where global warming CAUSES global cooling. I guess we'll just have to keep looking outside to know the weather, but this is still interesting stuff.

A new ice age _again_?

Deniers are a sort of ice age cult. They've been predicting a new ice age RealSoonNow for over 40 years running now. Needless to say, their HolyIceAge hasn't arrived. It isn't going to arrive. Instead, it's going to keep warming, just as the scientists correctly predicted 40 years ago.

Given how often their icy armageddon has failed to arrive, you'd think they'd learn. They don't. Deniers display classic doomsday cult behavior. Every time that their frigid doomsday fails to arrive, they simply push the date of doomsday back a few more years.

Oh, the paper. Zharkova. She's a crank. She doesn't understand basic orbital dynamics, making a mistake that a college freshman physics major wouldn't make. Specifically, she didn't know that the earth orbited the solar system barycenter along with everything else in the solar system, causing her to claim that the earth-sun distance varied as the sun orbited the barycenter. And when her mistakes get pointed out, she ignores the valid science, hurls insults and babbles denier conspiracy theories. Standard denier cultist behavior, that is.

Needless to say, such behavior makes deniers love her more. It's likely that, just like Curry, she gets paid substantial amounts of sweet fossil fuel industry cash to say the crazy things that she says. Follow the money. Denier spokespeople are always paid off. In contrast, the ethical scientists reject the denier bribes.
