It goes way back before the underpayment of NATO commitments. One example would be the US refusal to back Britain and Israel at the time of the Suez problems. America's allies learned a lot from that.

This started long before Trump. He is more of a result of the problem. I get he is an easy target to hate because he won’t back down from many many name callers. The Racist bubble gum is losing its flavor. To me I would rather hear the fight directly from the person than from 25 minions sent out to do the dirty work. The economy is doing quite well actually. Admittedly, that isn't because Trump is causing growth -- it's because he's smart enough to usually stay out of the way of business. He's deregulated a lot of things, which allows for growth.

If his words offend people, I don't really care. The feelings of one group or another are inconsequential compared to the fate of the economy.

As much as the left talks about equality, it's usually a matter of expecting equal outcomes. The simple truth of the matter is that people vary widely in ability. You can try to make things as even as possible, but some people win and others lose. So when the left sees some people still failing despite various measures taken to ensure supposed equality, they think we aren't doing enough as a society. In reality, they just can't seem to accept that not everyone is going to succeed.

He's doing a wonderful job in bringing out the real USA to those in the rest of the world that would under normal circumstances not take an interest in politics.
