Should some prescription meds be OTC?

Too many people are on meds. Let’s not make it easier for people to self medicate.

No thrill, no addiction, or so it would seem. At least in my experience and the experience of people I know.
It is apparently addictive if taken for a long period of time:

It makes sense in some cases. I definitely understand concerns about the overuse of antibiotics and powerful pain killers but I really don't understand why access to Predisone and Indomathecin, for example, are controlled.

Pain meds should be OTC, especially Morphine.

Prednisone can be quite dangerous if it isn’t used responsibly.

That's true of most drugs. Both drugs in question have relatively little abuse potential. It's frustrating to pay over a 100 bucks and waste time at a doctor's office to treat something like gout.

Too many people think medications is the answer when there are options which require you to get off your ass and get in better physical condition. We need to encourage people to look to medications as the last resort, not first.

Sometimes it is the answer particularly when you're in severe pain. Tweaking this a bit could eliminate a number of doctor visits.

I think we need far less OTC meds. We are an over medicated society.
