Something new and interesting in defensive pistol competition...Carbines.

    https://www.idpa.com/idpa-matches/types-of-matches/

I find this an interesting and maybe even a little foreboding addition to the International Defensive Pistol Competition (IDPA) matches.

They have now added a new class of weapon to their matches.
It is a Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) match.
A carbine is a short rifle.
They are now allowing short rifles (carbines) of straight walled pistol caliber to be used in matches in their own class.

OK, just a bunch of gun nuts like me out pretending we are Rambo.
    I get it.
Then we sit under the shade after 5 minutes of shooting and drink cold beverages.
Sounds like most of us. No problem.

Here is why I think it may be a little foreboding.
Most gun nuts (no offense) can't hit squat with a pistol past 10 yards.
    Especially under stress.
They can be much more effective if they have a carbine in that same low recoiling pistol caliber.
Let's say out to 50 or 70 yards or so.

9mm pistol ammo is still pretty dirt cheap at present.
I recently picked up 1,000 rounds at Walmart for about $184.03

The PCC guns are being offered by all kinds of makers now, and the game usually means you will need a 30 or 40 round magazine or two.
Several after-market brands have come up with magazine extensions to meet the demand.

If there is widespread civil unrest and and riots in urban areas are all over the place, this would be almost an ideal weapon to bring into play, and it sure beats a handgun.

I still have to obtain a weapon, but will be attending my first match Saturday at the Gun Club.
I will just watch and talk to other competitors and get a feel for the game.

PCC is so new I did not notice any mention of it in the link I posted.

(putting on my tin foil hat for a second)
Do they know something we don't know.
Are we being trained for the coming civil unrest when it reaches blood-letting levels?

MODS, you won't hurt my feelings if this gets moved to the Conspiracy section.

What kind of pistol do you use?

I use a CZ-75B for the matches, but keep a 1911 by the beside, and have a 4 inch Target Bulldog .44 Special for concealed carry because it is as light as a cap pistol and does not move around in my belly band holster.

Of course, I modified my belly band to make sure nothing moves around.

Whatever caliber you carry, whatever gun you prefer for self defense the most important factor is being able to hit your target.

Caliber, brand, model, means far less than youre ability to use the weapon

How many guns do you have?

The reason I asked is because many of the pistol caliber carbines out there today have magazine compatibility with popular handguns. The ones you see most often are Glock, Beretta, and Ruger. I have several PCCs. They are handy.
